Chelmsford Organisations

Amnesty International: the Chelmsford Branch of Amnesty International meets at 8pm on the second Tuesday of the month at Friends Meeting House, Rainsford Road, Chelmsford. The Secretary is Barrie Hay, 12 Estella Mead, Chelmsford CM1 4XH.

Chelmsford Chronicle:the Essex Chronicle’s website contains considerable information about Essex including a number of non-profit making community organisations’ websites. The Essex Chronicle publishes regular reports of the Trades Council’s activities.

Chelmsford Society: the town’s local amenity society; founded in 1962 to monitor and influence the development of Chelmsford, it has been described as Chelmsford’s "Watchdog Society". Friends of the Earth: Friends of the Earth (Chelmsford & Mid Essex), is a thriving branch. Its objective is to help to maintain and improve our local environment and support national/international issues. If you would like more information contact John Hill.

Transition Chelmsford.Transitioning is a community-led response to the challenges of climate change and peak oil. The emphasis is on making the most of local resources and local people, and building resilience.

Campaign for Better Transport : The UK’s leading authority on sustainable transport. It champions transport solutions that improve people’s lives and to reduce environmental damage. It campaigns to push innovative, practical policies at local and national levels.

War on Want: Fights poverty in developing countries in partnership and solidarity with people affected by globalisation. It campaigns for workers’ rights and against the root causes of global poverty, inequality and injustice.

Workers’ Educational Association: the largest voluntary provider of adult education in the UK.
