Chelmsford TUC

Delegates to Chelmsford TUC finalised details for the performance of the exciting show ‘The Great Teachers’ Strike’. This will take place at Christ Church on November 28, commencing at 7pm. Tickets can be obtained from 01245 601373 at £10, £5 concessions. The show’s theme is the way the Chicago Teachers’ Union and their community allies worked together for public sector education. The story, told by the excellent Banner Theatre Company, is woven together with vibrant music, songs and video footage. It is a remarkable performance that not only provides lessons but also inspiration.

Delegates heard reports about the Mid Essex Hospitals’ AGM, the developments at Stansted, and the recent Chelmsford Hope Note Hate meeting. At this meeting it was agreed to encourage people to sign Chelmsford TUC’s statement against racism and Islamophobia. It was also noted by delegates that our Secretary will be addressing a regional trade union conference on the way in which we developed and have used this statement.

Invitations have been sent to a number of speakers to address future meetings including one to our region’s Young Members’ Network. A dinner will be held after the December meeting.
