Chelmsford TUC

AGM 2015

Chelmsford TUC, now in its 116th year, held its AGM on 4 February in the Unite building in Springfield Road. After the Chairperson Hazel Corby welcomed everyone to the meeting she introduced the guest speaker Lindsay Ruigrok (Thompsons Solicitors) who gave a very interesting talk on recent developments in the law on holiday pay. Delegates noted that the correct procedures are extremely complex and emphasised how essential it is to be a member of a trade union to ensure that the law is used correctly by employers. Lindsay was thanked for her very informative talk.

Delegates then congratulated the Secretary Andrew Coburn on his excellent Annual Report which noted an outstanding year of activity including more branch affiliations. The programme for 2015 was then discussed and from the events already planned it is quite clear that the workload will be as heavy as in former years. Public meetings, exhibitions and campaigning on a wide range of issues will be the Trades Union Council’s key objectives. It was also agreed to participate, once again, in the Brentwood School Careers Convention.

After the retiring Officers were thanked for their work the following were elected: President: Colin Rolfe. Chairperson: John Pickard. Vice-Chairpersons: John Boreham, Marion Wilson. Secretary: Andrew Coburn. Treasurer: Hazel Corby. Press Officer: Malcolm Wallace. Auditors: Henrietta Phillips, John Boreham
