GENERAL MEETING

Despite the appalling weather Chelmsford TUC held its January meeting in the Red Lion, New London Road, with one of the first items discussed being its public meeting on Climate Change. With over thirty groups in support, it was felt that this had been a success, and delegates agreed that the Trades Council would facilitate a meeting to make Chelmsford a Transition Town. Any groups or individuals interested should contact Malcolm Wallace at 01245601373.

Delegates agreed to have a Fairtrade Tasting in March, and to hold two exhibitions in October on Health and Safety and Black History. It was also agreed that our May Rally would, once again, embrace music and singing, with the key speaker being Steve Hart, Regional Secretary of Unite.

Arrangements for our Workers’ Memorial Day event were discussed and this will take place under our Memorial Tree in Central Park on 28 April. Delegates then reported on a wide range of activities within their workplaces.
